Panini’s newest basketball release, Prestige, has been flying off shelves for a week now. Some collectors, whether through buying boxes, cases or turning to eBay, have found all of the cards they were hoping to snag from the hot, new product.
Which means they are licking their chops waiting for the next release to hit the market. It’s good to be sitting here on the cusp of October awaiting more basketball card releases.
Last year at this time, the NBA was in the middle of a lockout that looked as though was going to gobble up the entire 2011-12 season. For the first time since 2010, fans can spend their early autumn days looking forward to a new NBA season and waiting for new products to be released.
2012-13 Panini Threads Basketball is set for release on October 24th, a week before the start of the regular season.
Collectors can expect 24 packs per box containing five cards each. Guaranteed hits per box include: three autographs and one memorabilia card.
Threads takes a route off the beaten path with their autographed rookie cards this year. The cards of players from both the ’11 and 12′ draft classes will not only include a signature but will be printed on wood stock.
Along with the signed, wood stock rookie cards, Team Threads Autographs also makes Threads a “unique beast.” This year’s version of the die-cut, jersey shaped card will include player signatures.
In addition to the Team Threads Autographs, Threads will also include three more autograph inserts: Rookie Team Threads Autographs, Signage and Private Signings.
With a name like Threads, we can’t forget about the product’s two memorabilia inserts: Authentic Threads and Triple Threads.
As October 3rd draws closer, and the full checklist is released, we will do a more in-depth preview of this year’s Threads release.
