Blaster Box Break: 2012-13 Prestige Basketball

For the first time, outside of a few single cards ordered on e-Bay, I was able to get my hands on some of the new Prestige basketball release this weekend. I spent a portion of my Saturday evening breaking into a blaster box of Prestige, which contained eight packs with 10 cards each. I also bought two additional single packs to give myself a nice, even 10 packs to open.

As usual, I was guaranteed no hits in the 10 packs of Prestige. But for the second time in as many blaster box purchases, I landed an unexpected autographed card.

In the second pack I opened was a Festus Ezeli Prestigious Picks Autograph (photo on right).

A couple of weeks ago, I was treated to a Terrence Ross Draft Day Autograph in a blaster box of 2012/13 Hoops.

Obviously hobby boxes provide peace of mind with numerous, guaranteed hits. And considering the sticker price of hobby boxes, collectors should be guaranteed hits for dishing out a good chunk of their hard-earned money. But nothing beats the adrenaline rush of landing unexpected cards without draining your bank account in the process.

Let’s hope my luck continues!

Check out the rest of the break and photos below.
